
Woman's body found in Bloomington field
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Authorities in central Illinois are investigating after a badly decomposed body was found in a field in Bloomington.
McLean County Coroner Beth Kimmerling says the woman's remains were found Monday afternoon in some brush near a harvested cornfield. Kimmerling says the body had been in the field for quite some time.
Authorities plan to use dental records and DNA tests to determine her identity.
The body didn't show any obvious signs of trauma. An autopsy is planned.
According to the Bloomington Pantagraph, the body was found about 1 p.m. Monday near Valley View Drive and JC Parkway on the community's west side. The newspaper reported that McLean County Coroner Beth Kimmerling said that she has an idea of the body's identity but is awaiting confirmation. She said the person involved is not local.
