The Illinois State Rifle Association, in Conjunction with the John Marshall Law School Student Chapter of the Federalist Society, will hold a seminar at the law school (Saturday, October 22, 2011)
THE EVENT IS APPROVED FOR 1.5 HRS OF MCLE CREDIT
Focusing on recent developments in District of Columbia v. Heller, and McDonald v. City of Chicago, renowned constitutional scholar, Professor Nelson Lund, George Mason University Law School, the keynote speaker, will address Second Amendment scholarship with emphasis on Heller and Originalist Jurisprudence, and Two Faces of Judicial Restraint (Or Are There More?) in McDonald v. Chicago.
Two well-known practitioners, Richard Dvorak and Blake W. Horwitz, will address the basics of 1983 actions, the intersection between criminal law and civil rights, and how the outcome of a criminal law case would affect a 1983 action.
Admission is FREE, and includes food and beverage. The Seminar is approved for 1.5 hrs continuing legal education credit (CLE) for Illinois attorneys attending the event. Each Seminar registrant will receive a packet containing written materials pertaining to the covered topics as a source for future reference.
This seminar will also prove helpful to attendees who are not attorneys, since it will be instructive regarding your rights since the decisions in the Heller and McDonald cases, and how civil rights actions may be pursued.
