Illegal Beaner Ismael Garcia-Gomez growing pot in the forest preserves like he is tending a farm in Mexico


A Bensenville man is accused of growing pot in an Addison forest preserve after officers found him tending to more than 100 plants Friday.

DuPage County Forest Preserve Law Enforcement Lt. Howard Oller said officers were responding to a citizen complaint at Cricket Creek Forest Preserve Friday when they found between 100 and 150 cannabis plants. After monitoring the site all day, officers arrested Ismael Garcia-Gomez, 29, of Bensenville, as he tended to the plants, Oller said.

Further details about the incident were not immediately available.

Garcia-Gomez has been charged with production and possession of cannabis, littering, criminal damage to property and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to DuPage County court documents.

He is being held in the DuPage County Jail in lieu of $7,500 bail in addition to a no bail ICE detainer.
