A 24-year-old man was killed when he lost control of his motor scooter on North Lake Shore Drive a short distance from Lincoln Park, authorities said today.Killed was Abdul Yasin, of the 4500 block of North Whipple Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. An autopsy is scheduled for today.
Yasin was riding his scooter at about 1600 north on the Drive at about 8 p.m. Tuesday when he apparently lost control of it, said Officer John Mirabelli, a police spokesman.
Yasin was tossed from the scooter, possibly over a fence that borders the roadway, Mirabelli said.
He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, a medical examiner's spokeswoman said.
Police hadn't determined why Yasin may have lost control.
