Three classmates have been charged with helping a south suburban teenager kill his parents last month.

Police say John Granat, 17, let the three into his Palos Park home, where they used baseball bats to beat his parents, John Granat, 44, and Maria Granat, 42. John Granat then stabbed his mother several times, police said.

Murder charges have been filed against Christopher Wyma, 17, of Bridgeview, Mohammad Salahat, 17, of Chicago Ridge, and Ehab Qasem, 19, of Hickory Hills, police said. Authorities said they continued to pursue leads on other teens.

Salahat told detectives he drove Wyma and Qasem to the Granat home, and John Granat let them inside around 2 a.m. on Sept. 10.

The three teens told investigators they went with Granat into his parents' bedroom and found them sleeping. Salahat, Wyma and Qasem began beating the parents with baseball bats, while Granat stabbed his mother, authorities said.

Granat later gave the three teens thousands of dollars in cash that was in his family home, authorities said. The three left the home and disposed of their weapons and clothing in forest preserves and other locations.

Salahat, Wyma and Qasem are expected to appear in court with Granat this morning.
