Cocky Pissed Off Looking Woman charged in phony grenade attempted robbery

A 26-year-old woman has been charged with trying to hold up a Lincoln Park drug store with a phony hand grenade Tuesday afternoon.

Taryn Lombardi, of the 1500 block of West 19th Street, was charged with attempted armed robbery and battery as well as theft of lost property after police found her with a music player.

Employees at Braun Drugs, in the 2000 block of North Clark Street, managed to subdue Lombardi until police arrived and arrested her.

The incident happened at about 3:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said that the desheveled-looking woman waited for customers to leave the store before she approached several store employees at the pharmacy counter.

She then pulled the fake grenade and demanded cash, police said. But the employees grabbed the woman and held her until Near North District officers arrived.
