A Chicago woman was charged with battery and criminal damage to property Sept. 14 after she attacked another woman at an Oak Lawn gas station, police saidLaura J. Garcia, 23, 1506 N. Fairfield Ave., was arrested after repeatedly hitting another woman in the face at Speedway, 6030 W. 95th St., police said. She also damaged the victim’s car door during the melee.
The incident occurred at about 10:40 p.m. when Garcia pulled next to the 21-year-old victim, who was pumping gas, police said.
Garcia got out of her car and accused the victim of “talking to her man,” police said.
The victim told Garcia to leave, but she refused. Instead, she forced open the car door and began hitting the woman in the face, police said.
The victim went into the convenience store and Garcia followed her and pushed her. She then grabbed the woman’s purse and emptied its contents onto the ground. Garcia grabbed the victim’s cell phone to look for calls from her boyfriend.
The victim told police she does not know Garcia or the reason why she was attacked.
